The all-new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport HEV is on its way to New Zealand, bringing hybrid efficiency, bold SUV styling and everyday versatility to the Mitsubishi range.
Set to arrive in dealerships from the start of December 2026, the Outlander Sport will launch with a special introductory price of $39,990 + ORC for the XLS 2WD, available for a limited time. A higher-specification VRX will also join the range.
Hybrid efficiency without plugging in
The Outlander Sport introduces Mitsubishi’s Generation 2 hybrid system, combining a 1.6-litre MIVEC petrol engine with an 85kW electric motor.
Unlike a plug-in hybrid, there’s no need to connect the Outlander Sport to a charger. The system automatically selects the most efficient combination of electric and petrol power depending on driving conditions and battery charge, while regenerative braking helps replenish the battery as you drive.
The result is official combined fuel consumption of just 4.0L/100km and CO₂ emissions of 95g/km WLTP.
Made for everyday Kiwi life
At 4,390mm long, the Outlander Sport combines compact dimensions suited to urban driving with a spacious five-seat interior.
A completely flat rear floor helps maximise passenger space, while the 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats provide added flexibility when carrying passengers and gear. There’s also a 329-litre luggage compartment plus an additional 21 litres of underfloor storage.
Both XLS and VRX models come standard with a panoramic glass roof with electric sunshade, helping create an open and spacious feel inside the cabin.
Technology where it matters
The Outlander Sport XLS comes equipped with a 12.3-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio system, 8-inch digital driver display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, Active Yaw Control, reversing camera and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The VRX builds on this with features including Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium audio, wireless smartphone charging, ambient lighting, Multi Around View Monitor, a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and hands-free power tailgate.
A fresh new Mitsubishi design
The Outlander Sport introduces a new interpretation of Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield design, with a strong SUV stance, distinctive louvre-style daytime running lights and horizontal T-shaped rear lighting.
Six exterior colours will be available, with selected contrasting black-roof combinations offered on the two-tone VRX.
