A Legend Returns
The wait is almost over. After disappearing from Mitsubishi’s line-up in 2021, the Pajero name is making its comeback, with the all-new fifth-generation model set to be revealed today, September 2.
The new Pajero is being positioned as a flagship SUV with a much stronger focus on adventure and off-road ability. Mitsubishi has confirmed a ladder-frame platform and its Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) four-wheel-drive system, signalling that this is a Pajero built to carry on the capability its name is known for.
Built on a Legendary Name
The Pajero has been part of Mitsubishi’s story for decades, first arriving in 1982 and becoming one of the brand’s best-known SUVs. The new generation looks set to bring that heritage into a much more modern package, with Mitsubishi even revisiting its famous interior triple multi-meter in digital form.
For now, Mitsubishi is keeping many of the details under wraps. The full reveal will give us our first official look at the new Pajero’s design, interior, technology and powertrain, while New Zealand pricing, specifications and launch details are still to be confirmed.
