We’re also an authorised service centre and parts supplier for the previous brands, as well as Holden.

We offer modern and spacious facilities, where free coffee and biscuits are always available, and non-pushy salespeople who truly have your best interests at heart.

1992

The history of West City Auto Group starts when John Blewett bought the business in 1993.

Back then, the business was located in Great North Road and the dealership was Hyundai based, which was a relatively small brand at the time. Blewett felt the brand needed re-energising.

There was no Holden dealer in West Auckland at the time and Blewett contacted General Motors to see if there was a potential opportunity.

1994

The dealership changes its name to West City Holden.

In 1994, Blewett made the switch from Hyundai and began trading as Holden.

In 1997, at the same time Holden launched the hugely popular VT Commodore, the dealership changed its name and began operating as West City Holden.

2004

West City Holden moves to Central Park Drive.

West City Holden moved when land was bought in Central Park Drive in 2004, which is still the home base of the business today.

2006

Central Park Drive dealership expands.

The continuous growth of the business meant more space was needed and the site next door on Central Park Drive was bought in 2006. This was turned into the workshop and parts location for the business.

2009

West City Holden becomes West City Auto Group.

In 2009, West City Holden became West City Auto Group when it added Kia as a brand.

Blewett and the team spent the next few years successfully growing the business and looking around for other opportunities.

2015

Our Westgate Dealership opens its doors.

In 2015, land was bought in Northside Drive, Westgate for the second location of the dealership. The development finished in 2017 and opened with a second location for the West City Kia brand, as well as adding Suzuki to our portfolio.

2020

We bring on Mitsubishi, and a brand new Holden & Kia Service Centre is built.

In January 2020, the pressure on the workshops at both locations began to build, and a brand new service centre for Holden and Kia was built.

General Motors made the decision for the Holden brand to leave the market in February 2020, and West City Auto Group has decided to continue as an authorised service centre and parts supplier for Holden for the future.

In July 2020, we added the Mitsubishi brand, which is now located at our flagship site in Central Park Drive.

The business looks forward to continuing to grow and giving customers excellent experiences across our brands.
