If you’re not planning on using your car during the lockdown, try not to leave it sitting there the whole time. Nothing worse for the stress levels than having a car that won’t start upon your return.
Not running a car’s engine will leave your car in pretty bad shape health-wise. Aim to start the car at least once over this lockdown period. When you do, try to let the engine get up to temperature and then move the car just a few metres if you can. When moving the car, touch the brakes lightly, before driving it back to its parking spot.
Don’t leave the handbrake on – just leave the car in gear if it’s a manual or in Park if it’s an automatic.
Driving an electric car? To maintain the battery, leave the car unplugged and with about 80% battery charge ideally.
Hopefully, we’ll be back to enjoying long Sunday drives in cars that make us smile very soon. Until then, feel reassured that your car will still be there for you with these tips.
Start your engine!
